Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games

Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG). BOCOG is responsible for the preparation
and staging of the 2008 Olympic Games and was established in 2001, directly
after Beijing won the right to host the 2008 Summer Games.

BOCOG has adopted three concepts for the Beijing Olympic Games: the
Green Olympics, the High-tech Olympics and the People's Olympics.
Green Olympics - Environmental management principles, the
use of friendly technologies and stringent ecological standards will be considered
in the construction of all Olympic Games’ facilities. An environmental
awareness program will be promoted to the general public, with a focus on encouraging
the ‘green' consumption choice and participation in environmental improvement
activities across Beijing.
High-tech Olympics – The latest scientific and technological
achievements will be incorporated into the Games to enable Beijing an opportunity
to showcase its innovative advancement as a high-tech city.
People's Olympics - The Beijing Olympic Games will focus
on sharing the modern Olympism ideas, together with showcasing the Chinese
culture, Beijing's historical and cultural heritage, and the positive spirit
of its people – enabling an understanding and friendship between the
nations of the world. Additionally, the message of health and wellness,
in line with the people oriented and athletes-centred ideas will also be promoted.
